Difference Between Vodka and Tequila

Vodka

Vodka is a beverage that traditionally lacks a distinctive character, aroma, taste or color. It originated in Russia during the 14th century and its name is derived from “Voda”, the Russian word for water and is often believed as little water due to its clear color.

Vodka can be produced from potatoes, grains, corn, wheat or even more unconventional items such as grapes. The distillation from sugar and fruit are also sold as flavored vodka. Vodka is odorless. Vodka has a distinct taste of spirit as it is only composed of ethanol and water, so the clear taste of ethanol is present. Vodkas are also available in additional flavors such as lemon, apple, orange, etc.

Tequila

It is distilled drink comes from the blue agave plant. Tequila was first produced in 16th Century near the location of the city of tequila, Mexico.

It comes in simple clear distilled beverages to dark amber brown in color.  Tequila has a smoky flavor and has an aroma like fruit. There are five different types of tequilas known as white or silver, young or old, rested, aged, and extra aged tequila.

Vodka VS Tequila
