What is a website and what is a webpage? Sometimes Even computer students and practitioners don’t know the difference between webpage and website. A webpage and website may seem same but in actual, there is an important difference between these that can help you a lot in web development.

Webpage

A web page is an individual page that can be viewed by the user using a web browser. It is written in HTML or other high-level language. A web page includes text, font, color, style, designs, script, images and many more things. All this is used to make a webpage more presentable for the user. A web page provides information on a single topic.

Each webpage is unique and individual. For example the login page or Facebook or any other site is a webpage. After logging in the page you see is another webpage. Each webpage has a unique URL. No two pages are alike unless they have the same URL.  If a pages is duplicated but it has a different URL then the pages are not same.

Website

A website is a combination of many webpages. A single domain is assigned to a particular collection of webpages and they work under a single domain. Unlike a webpage where each page has a unique URL, a website shares its domain with all the collected webpages. A website is operated using a web browser.

A webpage provides information on a single topic whereas a website provides a complete package. Like Facebook has interaction, login, sign in etc. a website can be static as well. A static site does not allow user interaction like Wikipedia. A website can have one webpage or more. A website with one webpage is called a single page website.
